The Speech Therapist!

Hi, I’m Fergus and I’m the Speech & Language Therapist behind Sea SALT. I am a full member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, the Association of Speech & Language Therapists in Independent Practice and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Sea SALT is a labour of love for me. I adore getting to meet people and hearing their stories. I believe that speech therapy should be helpful, supportive, but more importantly, enjoyable. (I may also go as far as to say “fun”!)

Working independently allows me to really focus on what matters to the people I support and to have fun with it. I have over a decade of experience as an adult specialist SLT, working in hospital, community and telehealth settings, and I don’t like to take things too seriously.

I’ve had a fairly interesting life so far, serving as an officer in the Royal Navy for six years before going on to train as an SLT at the University of Strathclyde, graduating in 2014. After an initial year working with children and young people, I went on to develop as a generalist/specialist adult SLT at York Hospital, before then arriving in Kirkcaldy at the Victoria Hospital in 2018.

Although I left full-time NHS work in 2021, I have continued to support my NHS colleagues since then, working in Elgin, Aberdeen and, most recently, Perth alongside my independent practice work. Outside of speech therapy, I support the RNLI as a Resilience Coxswain in Scotland, travelling to whatever station might need help at the time.

Please have a look around the website and see if any of it is relevant to you. If it isn’t, then send us a message. I will try and help and, if need be, point you in the right direction.
